What Happens When 99 Lbs Meets 225 Lbs Head-On

It's that special time of the week: the day to take everything and wrap it up in a big bow and drop it off at Mrs. 4444.  Go on over to Half-Past Kissin' Time and link up!

* This is my 401st post.  How did I not notice that 400 was coming up?  We could have had a give-away.  Oops, missed it!  Besides, if I had anything cool to give away, I'd keep it.  Remember!  I hate to share.


* Yesterday at Parker's lacrosse game, he got plowed into over.  Unfortunately, it was by the other team's biggest guy.  In a crash between a 99 pounder and a 225 pounder, guess who wins?  Not Parker.  The game was stopped for several minutes until Parker could move...........off the field.  So he was out for the game.  The other team was evidently quite disappointed.  I heard their coach go up to our coach after the game and say, "We're really sorry.  That was too bad.  We even had a special defense worked out just to defend against that kid.  We're sorry we never got to use it."


* Whenver you have an injury of that nature, I think it's importan to get immediate medial attention a Big Mac.  As they were eating, I heard this -
Garrett: "Dude, which wrist is hurt?"
Parker: "My right one."
Garrett: "Wow, that sucks!"
Parker: "I know! It's my gaming hand."

 * Parker went to school limping around and holding his right arm up close to his body. His wrist might be broken.  I think I'll text him and see.

*UPDATE!  I called Parker and told him that when he gets out of school at 1:00, I will pick him up and take him for an X-ray.
His response: "I can't.  I have to go to Panda Express."
He's obviously DYING.

* For some reason, I kind of doubt he will play in tonight's game.

* On a lighter, happier note - You will never believe it but the Cupcake Gods have heard my pleas!

This is coming to town on April 13th-

Most people just wait for it to come to them.  That's not a chance I'm willing to take.  I'm going to go ahead and just follow it. 

* In preparation for our trip, I'm reading up on Cambodia.
I am never quite sure if I should laugh or cry.
Under the Health & Emergencies" section
" If you become seriously ill or sustain injuries in a traffic accident, then have yourself evacuated as quickly as possible to Bangkok or Singapore. For less serious injuries, visit International SOS.  This clinic has a dentist and can assist with evacuation."  Wait.  What?  How is a dentist going to help me?  And the clinic is only really useful to "assist" with evacuation?


" Note that ambulances may or may not show up if you have an accident.  And the emergency numbers often go unanswered."


Brian looked at me after I read this to him and said, "And we're letting our son ride a bike over there?"
No, actually, he's driving a car now.


* Garrett turned in a research paper today on how advertisers specifically target teenage girls to sell, not just products but image.  Garrett is pretty passionate about the subject.  His assertion is that the advertising makes the girls believe that by purchasing the product, they are actually going to become the pretty girl in the picture and achieve instant popularity and an exciting lifestyle.  As a result, he says, girls wear "skanky" clothes to get attention, they lower their morals, engage in risky behavior, and worry more about their outward appearance than developing inner beauty and thus end up with nothing but low self esteem.  There ya have it - straight from an 18 year old boy.

* Thank heavens it's Friday.  I'm exhausted.  For no reason.  I kind of feel like I got run over by a 225 pound lacrosse player - except that nothing's broken.
* Well, aside from the lacrosse games and maybe getting a cast, we have a pretty quiet weekend planned.

The WEDDING is STILL ON!

 Pretty much, I just locked up the Mom of the Year Award.

Yesterday, Margaret and I spent most of the morning securing these -

We called ticket brokers all over the country and then drove 40 minutes away to pick up actual tickets.  The reason we waited until the last minute to get tickets is that the concert was sold out and these same tickets were $300 in November.  They were still $250 in February.

So when Garrett showed up after lacrosse practice, I told him to hurry up and get in the shower.

Garrett: "Why? I'm supposed to go straight o the team dinner."

Me: "You aren't going to the team dinner.  Hurry up and get dressed.  You have to give Sarah a ride."
Confused....

Garrett: "Give Sarah a ride?  Give her a ride where?"

Me: "She's waiting for you.  You need to give her a ride........... (pull out the two tickets) ....to the Pepsi Center.

Reality dawns - must start texting people.

*In the last couple of weeks, several people have tried to GIVE me hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Really!
I keep getting emails from super nice people in foreign countries - not Nigeria, legit countries.
They've been ill and for some reason have NO one to pass thier money on to.
They've checked me out and the KNOW that I will put the money to good use buying bakery items and travelling the world and give it to people who really need it.
Their solicitors, attorneys, lawyers, representatives - whatever they are called in these foreign countries - will be contacting me soon so that we can complete the transactions.
Luckily, in checking me out, these generous people haven't read my blog.
If they had, they would know that I hate to share.


*When the Bonehead Brothers talk, we listen...........and then we laugh.
Brian: "Garrett, your college just added some new majors."  He then listed three new majors.
Garrett: "Do they have a major where you learn to make robots?  Because I would love to make robots! Unless the major is Mechanical Engineering and then I don't really want to make robots."


*To pacify Garrett,
we had Easter Steak for dinner Monday night.
He was a good sport and went along with the Easter Ham on Sunday, even though what he really wanted was Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken or just a plain ole steak.


*Surprise!
I didn't have a donut or even a cupcake for breakfast.
Pick yourself up off the floor!
I had homemade Berry Shortcake.
Leftover Easter Dessert.




*Having been inspired this weekend by all of the wonderful talks at General Conference,
I decided to re-read the Book of Mormon again.
I've ready it many times.
BUT not since Christmas.
Brian gave me a new set of scriptures at Christmas, which I both love and don't love.
I love the new scriptures because all the pages are attached to the binding.  The pages aren't ripped and the cover and pages aren't water stained.  My old scriptures were THRASHED.
I don't love the new scriptures because my favorite passages aren't marked.  They aren't covered with hand written notes and sticky notes and quotes.
It will take awhile to make these new scriptures "mine."

Easter Sugar High

Easter weekend was spectacular.
It couldn't have been better.
The boys returned home from Florida tan and bruised.
They had a great time.

Saturday and Sunday, we hung out and watched General Conference.
All the talks were fabulous and even though I took notes, I can't wait to "see" them in print and review them.
Sunday morning the boys went on their traditional "half naked" Easter Egg hunt.

It's just too exciting to put on a shirt or comb their hair......much less brush their teeth.

The rule is always, "You get ONE of everything.  So if you find one gold egg and see another, leave it for your brother."

It usually works pretty well.

Except, this year, I purchased two mini kites.  One was Spiderman.  One was Cinderella.

Which one do you think everyone wanted?

Garrett: "Dude, seriously, give me the Cinderella kite."

Parker: "No man, you can have Spiderman."

Garrett: "Come on.  You know mom bought the Cinderella kite for me."

Parker: "Dude, just have the Spiderman kite."

Me: "Boys, there are two kites in the princess kite package.  There's Cinderella and Snow White."

Garrett: "See!  So give me the Cinderella kite."

Parker: "No way dude.  You can have the Snow White one."

Garrett: "I don't want Snow White."
Me: "Why not?"
Garrett: "Snow White is ugly!  I want Cinderella."

Really?  Are they even going to fly these kites?

Parker organized what he hasn't eaten in the first hour.

Then he organized Garrett's.

I received a basket full of See's candy which in true Christ-like fashion, I refused to share with anybody.  (They had their own candy!)

It was a wonderful Easter Sunday full of inspirational talks, time to reflect on Christ and the Atonement and Resurrection, Family, Candy, and Good Food!

I'm just coming out of my food induced coma.

What do Mormons belive?
What do I believe?



I know the Jesus Christ lived and died for each one of us.  He suffered not only for our sins, but for our disappointments, sadnesses, illnesses, loneliness, frustrations and grief.  He died that we might live.  Only through Jesus Christ and the Atonement can we someday live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
Easter is a day to celebrate, not His death, but that He lives!

Awesome Friday & Kung Pao Easter

Oh yeah!  It's Friday!

It's time to pull all those fragmented thoughts together and get ready for the weekend.

* It's a special Friday though.  It's Good Friday!
21 years ago, my first baby was born on Good Friday....all 7 lbs 12 ozs of him.
That made it an AWESOME Friday.
We brought him home, dressed in a little Peter Rabbit outfit on Easter Sunday.
And our lives have never been the same!

* I'm leaving in 18 seconds to go do my Easter shopping - not the Easter Bunny shopping but the shopping for the meal.  Sorry Garrett, I'm NOT picking  up

some Easter Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken or Easter Steak.  He will be so disappointed.

* Even though the kids are 15 and 18, they will still want to dye eggs and go an Easter egg hunt.  I would want to go on an Easter egg hunt too if the Easter bunny hid I-Tunes cards, Chipotle cards and cash.  OF course, there will be the traditional jelly beans and chocolate bunnies.


* I was at a restaurant and overheard listened in on this conversation:
Businessman 1 - "I always really liked him, but I've never had any busness dealings with him."
Businessman 2 - "On the business front, he's somewhere between an idiot and a buffoon."


* The controller at Brian's office just called.
He wondered why I wasn't coming in today.
But he also said that I am such a good worker that they doubling my pay!
Yippee!  I so deserve it!
Wait, what is 2 x $0?


* The boys are packing up their Disney ears and heading home tonight.
I hope they had fun.
Stories will start to s-l-o-w-l-y trickle out and we should know the full scope of their fun by the time they are 25.


* Someone in Cambodia ran into Trammell and was kind enough to take a picture and email it to us.

Thanks............I think.

* I can get revenge on Trammell though. Today is the day that he can register for classes for next Fall.  Because he is on his mission, he can't register himself.  Because classes fill up quickly, I should have gotten on the computer at midnight.  Don't you think he wants 18 credits of Pottery, Cycling, Social Dance, Marriage and Family Relations, and Guitar?  Or maybe I should go more toward 18 credits of Stats, Econ, Microbiology, Chemistry and Research, Design and Analysis of Psychology.  So many fun options....so little time.

Checking KSL to see if I can view that Cambodia show they are showing this weekend.  I wonder if I can get video streaming online????
