Off My Show

"Off My Show" - If my life was a television show or a broadway production (wait! it's not?) these are things that would not be allowed on stage or on camera.  They are usually things that were only mildly annoying or maybe okay or maybe good or even great until, one day, I woke up and I was over it.

Someone who is NOT off my show: the wonderful Mrs. 4444 over at Half Past Kissin' Time!
She's the one who lets us all come over and frag on Fridays.
She's cool that way!
Things that are off my show -

* Cake Pops
 They WERE totally cool, delicious and slightly mysterious. I loved them for a time. But it's time to move on. It's time for people to make something else.  May I suggest we move on to mini-pies or tarts?

* Pepsi
I like Coke.  It used to be that if I went somewhere that didn't carry Coke, I would order Pepsi.
Not anymore!  I have standards!
If they don't have Coke, I'll take WATER (or I pick up my Coke before going there or I don't go there - yeah - I have issues.)
Don't say that I should be having water anyway.  Don't say it!

* Bon Appetit magazine
One of my favorite activities was to pull up to the bar (in my kitchen) with a nice snack and an ice cold Coke and drool my way through this magazine. Seriously, reading about food is right up there with EATING it........almost better.

Anyway, Bon Appetit has outgrown me.  I'm looking for REAL food:  food with ingredients that are sold at my store, can be made in a reasonable amount of time and will actually taste good.

Who wants to make/eat
Matcha & Pistachio Halibut
Arctic Char Gravlax with White Grapefruit
Smoked Haddock Chowder
Lamb Tagine with Chickpeas and Apricots
Roasted Cauliflower (yes) with Date Syrup (never mind)
or even Tangerine Souffle with Citrus Coulis?

If you do, go get the October 2011 issue.

* Bare midriffs
Oh you didn't know they were coming back in did you?
Yep.
Shirts are getting shorter.
And it's not totally back in yet but I'm here to tell you it's out!
It's off my show.
I don't want to see anyone's bare stomach

* Political statements on Facebook
I have "friends" who post 3-4 totally one-sided, unconfirmed, completely biased statistics and "facts" in their stati <- plural for status, every day.
I'm not sure why I care, but I'm defriending them.

* 85 degree weather.
It's October!
I want fall weather.

Have a great and wonderful weekend!

I will try to clean up my shirt preference when I am around you. Sorry! Is 43°F this morning Fall enough for you?

You have got to check out Food Network Magazine. I practically drool on every page because everything looks so delicious. Last month ther was an insert of 50 ways to use bacon. Mmmm. Most recipes are fairly practical and hav common ingredients, too.

That sounds like a really good list to me. Why do they even make Pepsi?

I've never wanted to eat a cake pop because I found out how they were made first, and boom...appeal gone! On the off chance that a midriff shirt sneaks onto your show, can you outlaw ultra lo-rise pants just to make sure nobody has to see both on the same person at the same time...I don't want to see any tummy/butt crack dynamic dous!

I agree about recipes like that. They're not practical and they don't even sound that good! I like recipes that are delicious, quick, and easy.

And bare tummies are only cute on babies and young children (and hot guys at the beach, ha ha!)

I am a Coke girl. No exceptions.

Speaking of food, could you email me your Beef stoganoff recipe you posted a while back. I can't find it though your archives. It's the one for the slow cooker.

I made it once, and can't find where I put it. I want to make it this weekend. :) Thanks!

Do you go to the Pioneer Womans blog? Her food is amazing...but has likes a lot of heavy cream and butter...but some of those dishes are great!!! And they are all food that normal people eat! No fru-fru stuff!

Marty - I want it to stay 45 all day!
Jenn - Thanks for commenting! I am definitely going to check out the Food Network mag. Yum!
Mama- see? I knew I was right about Pepsi...and everything in general. ;)
Andrea - Yes - Ultra low rise pants are outlawed!
Andrea - I'll email you the recipe asap!

Rachael - I have the Pioneer Woman's cookbook. You can never use too much cream or butter!

I'm loving the changing colors here. Tomorrow (80 degrees), Mr.4444 and I are going to take a canoe down a local river--It's not usually warm enough to do that, so I'm excited!

You are so sweet--Your intro is wonderful. Thanks.

Cake pops--I am not over them yet.

It is not uncommon for my purse to weigh ten pounds, due to the Diet Coke I have stashed in it when going to non-Coke restaurants. There are simply NO substitutes!

Thanks for linking up. Have a great weekend.

I think the idea of a pie pop or tart pop is pretty brilliant. Perhaps you should send the idea in to Bon Appetit.

I'm sorry to say that I've had to block most of my extended family members on Facebook because of their political ramblings (or outbursts). Such is life! Hope things are going well for you guys.

I promise no political statements that are unfounded.

I promise to always have Coke if you visit (which you never do).

I promise to never cook foo-foo food. Only the real stuff.

Fall colors and temps are here in Seattle. And hopefully they'll be in NYC next weekend with me.

Can I be on your show? I do okay on shows you know.

I couldn't eat something that had a name like some of those recipes - lol!

I'm a "plain food" kind of gal!

Visiting from Friday Fragments...on Sunday!

Have an awesome evening.

Have you ever tried making cake pops? They were off my show the very day I attempted that mess. And even though I'm not normally a Martha person, my very favorite cookbook is her Great Food Fast!

I agree with you on the magazine. Sometimes I wonder just where they come up with these recipe ideas. Some of them don't even sound at all appetizing!

Yeah, Pepsi is no substitute. It is just plain BLAH!!!!
