CHECK ME IN TO THE FUNNY FARM!

I’ve lost my mind.
I’m going nuts!

The other day, I was sitting at my desk and I hear noises on the roof.
There are frequently giant magpies that fly up there and strut around, I can see them from my office.

But this sounded……..heavier.

And there was a certain rhythm to the sound – definitely like a man is walking on my roof.

I was freaked out.
I looked out the window but didn’t see any cars in the driveway or on the street.
Still – someone was walking on my roof.

I quietly went out the back door.
In order to see the roof, I needed to walk a good 25 feet out from the house.
I slowly circled the house looking to see who was on the roof.

Finally, I made my way around the house to the front.
I was standing on the other side of the circle drive searching the roof.
Suddenly from the corner of my eye, I saw movement.

There he is!

A bushy tailed squirrel ran down the roof line and to the corner of the gutter and stared at me.

His furry little face watched me as I stopped and yelled, "HI SQUIRREL NUTKIN!" and WAVED.

I YELLED HELLO and  WAVED to a squirrel………like he was a neighbor or a friend spotted across the room at a party.

I'm talking to animals!

I WAVED again. (Yes! In broad daylight – TWICE)

No longer looking for the man lumbering on my roof, I scanned the street quickly to see if any neighbors were out to witness me waving to a squirrel.

BUT WAIT!

The next day, Brian and I were driving home from the lawyer's office.  We had just signed new wills.  We were in the middle of a serious discussion.

As we talked, I watched out the window.
Suddenly, I waved.
Brian slowed the car and leaned forward to look past me to see who I was waving at.

Before I could stop myself,
"Oh I was just waving at Squirrel Nutkin" came out of my mouth.
He looked at me indisbelief, like I wasn't paying total attention to the conversation at hand.

I'm lucky he didn't have me committed right then and there.

LOL. Funny! And we still love you even if you talk to squirrels.

I laughed hard when you told me this story but seeing it in print with pictures made me spit my coke zero onto my computer. Hilarious!!!

For some reason it reminds me of Snow White. I guess I'm crazy too but in a different way.

Hey, Squirrel Nutkin has been tromping around on my roof, too. He must weigh a ton because I am always sure that it is a person up there, or at least a large raccoon. I can't figure out how something so small can make that much noise!

And I forgot to mention - we can check into the funny farm together. I routinely say hi to the ONE bunny who lives under the giant bush in the front yard. (I keep telling myself and anyone else who will listen that we only have ONE bunny living under there.) I've named him Little Bunny Foo-Foo, and now the boys also say hi whenever we see him. The crazy is contagious.
*(I had to re-post this comment after spelling contagious correctly!)
