1. I'm exhausted.
2. Seattle was wonderful. The wedding was fabulous.
I'll get to all of that - eventually.
While we were gone,
it was announced in church that Brian and I have a new calling.
Yep - we get to work together!!!
What will we be doing?
Get ready!
I'll give you a hint with Garrett's text message:
"You and dad got a new calling: nursery."
No, we aren't going to be co-nursery leaders.
Thanks Garrett!
Close though - Brian and I were asked to plan the
It's
It follows the the trail that the pioneers took on their trek to Utah.
Fortunately, we aren't starting in Nauvoo and walking to Salt Lake City.
We're just walking 15-20 mile of the trail.
We've known for a few weeks but it was just announced yesterday.
After we were called, I woke up in a cold sweat one night concerned.
There are about 1.2 million details to be figured out -
transportation,
meals,
sleeping arrangements,
chaperones,
medical care,
I could go on and on and on.
It's overwhelming.
But that first night,
you know what shook me to my core and woke me out of a sound sleep?
I think I gave away my SECOND bonnet!
How can you possibly plan a successful pioneer trek if you don't have a cute wardrobe?
How could I have UNSELFISHLY given away my spare bonnet?
Sharing was foolish. Look where that got me!
I only have 14 months to secure another.

I don't envy you that calling but you are perfect for it. You guys will be great!
You are the perfect one to plan the Trek! Our ward went a few years ago and I was only in charge of getting my girls ready! I don't even want to think about all the other things that go into planning. And yes! A cute pioneer wardrobe is a must! ;)
Wow! Good luck. Our youth did that a few years ago. Luckily I had nothing to do with it, but I'm sure you'll look back on it as a great experience. And I'm sure you'll find another bonnet in time. If not, well, sometimes the pioneers just had to do without.
Good luck with that new calling, sounds like a march to me! :) Oh, and I am answering the comment you left on my blog....if you like historical fiction you might enjoy one on my list, Winds From the Carolinas by Robert Wilder. Great book!
I am so excited for you guys. My son did that trek two years ago. He loved it! It is fun to watch the video of it. You guys will do great!
I'm glad you had a good time in Seattle.
You couldn't pay me enough to go on that trek. I don't like walking or youths enough to go through it. BUT, I'm happy that you are excited about it, and I hope you have a great time when it comes around.
Good luck finding that bonnet. Sharing? What were you thinking?
Have a great day!
What a fun calling! They sell some cute trek clothes now too. We trekked in Wy on a family trek 2 yrs ago. My kids are begging to go again. My Eli is going this summer too, but not in WY. Have fun planning! ~Emily
Oh my goodness! That is one heck of a big calling! I'm sure you were both given the calling because they know you can do it. I look forward to hearing more about it in future posts.
