No School! No School! NO SCHOOL!

It's everyone's FAVORITE day!
Get on over to The Un Mom and say "HI!" to Keely!

* Parker called yesterday afternoon to tell me that there would be no school today.
Since I trust my children implicitly and want them to be confident in that trust and
because I'm the BEST MOM in the world,
I responded: "Nuh uh!  Who told you that?"
P: "Our teacher.  They just got an email from the school district."
Me: "No way!  I'm looking on the website for myself........ Oh my gosh!  There's no school tomorrow!  I'll pick you up and we can go to Red Box."
P: "Can't we just go home?  I pulled a hamstring."
Me: "Oh no! We need movies!  We're going to party it up!"

* Windchill today will be between -10 and -40.
I think I'm the only one who thinks it's awesome!

* Because I'm all about fairness and being kind and loving, AND I'm the BEST MOM,
I immediately hung up and texted the other two boys at college to brag that WE didn't have school!

Garrett texted back: "Why? Is it really snowing there?"
Me: "No there's not that much snow but it's supposed to be like -15."
Garrett: "Pansies!"
See!  That's love!

* While driving from school to the Red Box -
Parker: "Can we talk?  Let's talk about feelings."
Me: Incredulous and silent
Parker: "You want to know how I feel?  I think it sucks that the Map Pack comes out tonight at midnight but it's only for XBOX. And on a day when we don't have school.  If it came out for Playstation, I would get it at 12:01 and play it through the night."
Me: Still incredulous and silent but for different reasons
Parker: "It's so stupid! What a rip off."
Me: "Map Pack?  Are we talking about Call of Duty?  Are we talking about how you feel about video games?"
Parker: "Yeah!"

Wow!  I think we're really communicating!

* Do you think it's normal that Parker is so hungry that just ONE HOUR after dinner, he is rooting around the refirgerator and freezer for "spare" meat?

Is it normal for a child to come in at 9 pm and ask, "Hey do youneed that steak for anything?"
Uh yeah.........dinner tomorrow!

Is it normal for me to just give in and go to the store and come home with a handful of steaks and say,
"Hey, I got some rib eyes for next time you're hungry."

Can't he just have a bowl of ice cream or a handful of Cheez Its?

* Several people are asking where I found the swimsuits I featured in yesterday's post -
Two (the red and the hot pink multi colored tankinis) were from Nordstrom
The two one pieces (navy and turquoise multi colored) were from Tommy Bahama.
We'll justify it by pointing out the quality fabric and exceptional fit!
Don't judge!

Have a fabulous Tuesday!  And if you are in one of the 30 states affected by the storm - STAY WARM!

I guess in some ways it's good that at least your kids talk to you, right? I know people with teenagers and they barely speak. So what if it's video games. :)

We are staying home due to cold today. The schools here are not closed, but we are. -23F was just too cold for our cars.

Let's talk about feelings. That is hilarious and awesome.

I admire your parenting skills. We're raising children to have a solid sense of humor without being full of themselves. Pat yourself on the back. And yes, it is normal for a teen boy to want to consume an entire elephant an hour after dinner. Your measly steaks will not satisfy his hunger.

There's nothing like a day off from school. Even when you don't have school anymore!! Stay warm!!!

Reason #394750 I'm glad I have a girl: no warm and fuzzies over video games.
This is also the same number reason as to why John wishes he had a boy. :-)
Stay warm!

I was out delivering mail today in our 2 inches-turned-nine inches of snow today.

I can't feel my pinky toe.

That can't be good.

They didn't call school. Instead, at 8am they decided on a 1pm dismissial. WHEN ALL THE ROADS WILL BE UNPLOWED AND TREACHEROUS! At 330 the roads were nice and clear and we had moved on to rain which was inevitably pounding the 9 inches of snow down to 2. IDIOTS! :)

I'm off tomorrow, which is good. Because I think we're supposed to get four more inches. Which will most likely mean 14. :(

Well, if you're lucky like us, you're getting another "cold" day on Wednesday. Then maybe Parker would have time to get his haircut. Oh, and thanks for the swimsuit info!

Your family sounds so much like mine. At least he asked instead of eating the meat you were planning on for dinner - that's what my son would have done!

That is hilarious. "Let's talk about feelings." Hahah.
My 6 year old is like your son...always hungry no matter when he eats. I am terrified what it will be like when he is a teenager. UGH!
We had a snow day too. They should have just called it a really COLD day with icy roads. I get to drive home in it at midnight tonight. Hoping to get home by 1am...b/c you remember how I drive in snow, right. Gulp!

At least yours talks to you. Mine answers every question I ask with 'Yes,' 'No,' or 'Fine.'

My Midget is lucky if she can find stale chips to eat lately. We've been crazy broke.

Happy Random Tuesday!
