Nocturnal Zombies, Digestive Issues, Homecomings & Farewells

Welcome to the ramblings of the sleep deprived!
Thank heavens for RaNDoM THouGHT TueSDaY where our hostess Keely at The Un Mom
allows us to dump.
Head on over there and see what some of the more rational people have to say!

* Hooray for me (and Brian)!
We're celebrating 26 years of wedded bliss today!

And in our typical romantic fashion - we have no plans!

* Everyone in the house is EXHAUSTED.
It's a house of nocturnal zombies.
Cambodia is 13 hours ahead and we STILL haven't normalized to Mountain Standard Time.
It would be fine if we all went to bed at 8 pm, woke up at 2 am, roamed the house in search of food, watched a little TV and went back to bed, but EVERYBODY is on a different schedule.

Garrett crashed in his bed at 6:30 - face planted.
Brian went to bed at 8.
Parker went to bed at 8:30.
Garrett awoke at 9:30 and wanted dinner.
He and Trammell went to Wing Stop.
Trammell and I went to bed at 11:00
Garrett went back to bed at 12:30.
Brian woke up at 2:00 and couldn't go back to sleep.
Trammell got up at 4.
Brian resignedly got up at 5.
I got up at 5:30.
Parker and Garrett got up at 5:45.
Everyone is grumpy.

* Question:
Why do women/girls in America go around half naked?
Old question.
Just re-emphasized by the modest women in Cambodia who wear long sleeves and long pants in 95 degrees and 95% humidity.
So don't say it's because of the heat.

* I am now accepting donations.
It's August - time to pay all the regular household bills...
along with two tuitions and the rent on two apartments.
Boooo!

*Another lovely aspect of our trip to Cambodia -
As a family,
we are now all intimately aware of EVERYONE'S digestive details.
Ahhhh.........I feel so close!
Throughout the trip, some people had constipation, some people had diarrhea, and we were ALL able to share in the experience.
Breakfast was always a fun time to discuss everyone's inner workings or non workings and hear the details.
So fun!
That's what makes family special!

* My parents got their visas last week.
They were supposed to leave the beginning of June to serve a two year mission in Rome, Italy.
It was disappointing to have their mission delayed,
but now, they can see so may blessings and reasons for having to wait.
They are leaving this Sunday immediately following Trammell's Homecoming talk in church.
The Lord has a plan.  He always has a plan!
So while we welcome Trammell home, we bid arrivederci to my parents.

Happy RaNDoM TueSDaY!

Jenn Child gave me your blog address. I have loved getting my morning, mid-day, or evening laugh depending on when I get on. You are hilarious and I have loved reading about your Cambodia adventures and mis-adventures. I even copied and pasted some of Parker's pictures of his million dollar smile and e-mailed (the safest way to communicate with a teenager) them to Hailey.

Haven't figured out why my posts say my 9 year old daughter's name - Lauren, instead of mine. Oh well.

I found your blog through a comment you left on another (I was killing time waiting for my husband to come home for dinner). How fun to have gone to Cambodia!! I have wanted to go there myself. We have been donating money to build wells there for years and I wanted to go see some of them and meet the people in real life, but it doesn't appear it will happen this year.

I can relate to being up all night after a trip though. We went to New Zealand this summer and had the same experience when we returned. Although--I really don't remember the butter being as bad as you described it. Maybe we never had butter. I know it took us a while to get used to the milk, but then we really liked it. (After we bought a different brand).

Welcome home to your son!!
