It's time for RaNDoM TueSDaY FUN!
Head on over and link up with Keely at The Unmom
and spread your Tuesday cheer.
* Today is Gram's funeral. She was 91 and lived a full and wonderful life. She has been waiting patiently to join Pops for several years. I'm happy for her. I'm sad for us - her family and friends- who will definitely miss her!
* The boys have finals this week. It's a bad week for a funeral. But let's be honest. There is no such thing as a good week for a funeral. We spent our dinner last night discussing the logistics of getting people to the viewing, the funeral, review sessions, the actual burial, meeting with teachers, family dinner back at the church, etc. I won't bore you with the ridiculous machinations of the day. But let's just say that the boys will be missing out on the "funeral" potatoes. Bummer.
* Do you not know what funeral potatoes are? They ROCK!
It's that hashbrown casserole with cream of mushroom soup, melted butter, sour cream and cheese baked with bread crumbs or smashed up corn flakes on top. They have about a gazillion calories. They are served with ham............at funerals. Or at our house, they are served about once a month for no reason at all.
* Why is our school district stupid? Why do the kids get out for Christmas break for 2 weeks, come back for ONE week of classes and then a week of finals? Do they REALLY think that anyone is studying over the break. Not even Parker cracked a book over break. I mean, we all KNEW Garrett would leave his backpack in the car for the entire two weeks, but Parker? THAT's just proof that finals after break is a bad idea.
* Guess what I'm eating for breakfast? Yep, a maple cake donut.
* Oh and did you know that each policeman gets $175 to lead/direct a funeral procession from a church to a cemetery? And there has to be a minimum of 3 policeman.
* The ever irreverent boys were sorry that Gram isn't being buried in the cemetery right next to (and I mean in the parking lot of) Chick-Fil-A. They thought the service could be held at Chick-Fil-A. Small children could hang out in the playland. Then we could walk across the parking lot to the cemetery or watch through the Chick-Fil-A windows and then have the family dinner right there........conveniently at Chick-Fil-A. Who said they weren't brilliant? That ended the "family meeting."
* Happy Tuesday!

Gina, I knew I liked you! Funeral potatoes are truly my favorite food, and we eat them monthly for no reason at all too!
Good luck with the funeral today.
Love funeral potatoes. When it's not a funeral, we call them party potatoes.
chick fil-a. Your boys! Too funny.
The only good part of a funeral is the potatoes!
I'm sorry about your loss! Hope you guys get through this rough week of funerals and Finals.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Angie
P.S. I know the DJs on the radio were talking about how they'd continue to drink it, because obviuosly we've been drinking it for ages and not getting sick... I still don't know if I can bring myself to do so though... But I gave up the soda anyway! lol
I love your random thoughts! I'm sorry about your Gram.
Thanks for stopping by my blog too!
I think schools think students study the whole time they're out on break, I mean really!??!
I love funeral potatoes. We eat them at Easter.
Figures the boys would want a Chick Fil A funeral!
I HATE finals after break. Stupid!
I am sorry about the funeral but gotta love the boys idea! I think it is just great
Oh those potatoes are so good. I don't know anyone who makes them anymore, but I remember having them at family gatherings and they were so good.
Chick Fil-a huh? That's hilarious!
My condolences to you and yours on the passing of your Gram. My grandma is up there in age and has waited for years for her passing so she can be with her departed husband and God. Funeral potatoes sound delish. I've never heard of them. I'll have to look that one up and get the recipe.
Our schools start the middle of August so finals are right before Christmas break. Makes it much nicer.
The Chick fil a comments are a riot!
That donut sounds wonderful. Sorry about your grandma.
Have a great day!

We never called them funeral potatoes. Potato casserol, I think. Or cheesy potatoes. But they are always at funerals, aren't they. Makes you wonder.
Funeral potatoes? My stomach just started growling. He is very insensitive.
Stopping by from the Un Mom…
Never heard of Funeral potatoes— must be an interesting tradition.
Thank you for your randomness,
Sorry to hear about Gram:(
LOL at the Chic Fil A thing! I think that I would get along good with your crew!
I'm sorry about your Gram.
I have never ever heard about funeral potatoes but they sound tasty. They should be "nobody has died" potatoes to be properly enjoyed without the sadness.
I feel like my comment will be lost in the crowd...holy cow Gina SO many people read you! I love it!! I always forget to comment because I stalk through my google reader...it's been tempermental lately so here I am, commenting!
I think cupcakes are on the menu this week, what do you think?! I'll see wht I can do to have some show up on your doorstep when I get around to making them! I mean I can't avoid it if it's on my to do list, right?
And I think you should just be a guest blogger on my blog for the next hmm I don't know say 8 weeks, what do you think ;)
I shared My Random Thoughtsyesterday morning but didn't have a chance to visit until today because I spent the day with my sister.
I confess I've never heard of Funeral Potatoes but I read the recipe in today's post and they do look delicious. My thoughts are with you and your family in your time of loss. It sounds like your Grandma lived a good long life.
Hugs and blessings,
